Best Antique Connecticut license plates: No argument here: Along with the 1909 New Jersey, the 1910 Connecticut porcelain license plate is the most beautiful license plate ever conceived. Best of the "Not-so- Old Connecticut license plates: They were only issued for a short time, but those hard-to-read late '70s to early '80s light-blue-on white issues did look nice when they were mint. Too bad the contrast on the tags quickly melted when exposed to Connecticut Turnpike bus fumes. These will be rare, and expensive in years to come. Connecticut license plates are also the king of the Lighthouse issues. Toughest/Most Rare Connecticut plates: Not counting the block "C" 1909 which is really just a "variety", (Ahem, so says, with bitterness, anyone who does not actually OWN one), the answer is the first issue. This is an attractive little fellow, and with nice gloss they're irresistable. Along with the first issue Vermont, it's arguably the first "dated" license plate, if you count the manufacturer's scribbling on the back of the porcelain tag. Another tough Nutmeg state license plate is the 1937 tabbed base.And of course, the dated '61. (Just kidding.) New & Old Connecticut License plate slogans:
