Best Antique Nebraska license plates: The 1919/1920 is a terrific example of an early tabbed old license plate. But the best Nebraska plates EVER are the alternating blue and orange colored '40 and '41, showing the unique state capitol housing their unique unicameral legislature. The design is great, and the colors even better.Best of the "Not-so- Old Nebraska license plates: Nebraska's Bicentennial license plate seemed a tad dated when it first came out, almost as if it had been created from a book of peel-and-stick public domain clip art, and a roll of paste-up border tape -- (border tape that featured blue ocean waves for this landlocked state!

Some of these started coming off the roads a full decade later, replaced by one of the most boring old license plates, the plain white on blue 85 Nebraska. But not ALL came off the roads: After a quarter century, (or something like that), many of these "oldest" of old Nebraska license plates were still celebrating the Bicentennial on Nebraska's roads. But we were really sorry to finally see it go. It is truly a classic and takes it place among future antique Nebraska license plates.Toughest/Most Rare Nebraska plates: Try to find a really nice 1915 Nebraska license plate. A relative latecomer first-issue when compared to its neighbors, you will just as soon find at least one very nice antique leather prestate license plate from Nebraska, before nabbing a nice '15.
